The Name Inside the System

The private airport terminal glittered with money.
Champagne glasses clinked under warm lights. Expensive watches flashed on wrists. People laughed too loudly, the way rich people sometimes do when they wanted everyone else to notice.
In the center of the room stood a black private jet.
Huge.
Silent.
Untouchable.
Beside it stood Damian Cross, billionaire, famous for turning every room into his stage.
Then he pointed toward a small boy standing near the windows.
The boy looked around ten years old.
Brown jacket.
Serious eyes.
Too calm.
Too still.
Damian grinned.
"Open this jet and I'll give you fifty thousand dollars."
Laughter exploded instantly.
A man nearly choked on his drink.
Someone pulled out a phone to record.
Damian walked over and bent down slightly.
"What happened? Too scared?"
The boy looked at him.
No smile.
No fear.
Just stared.
Then quietly asked:
"Are you sure?"
The laughter weakened.
Damian smirked.
"Very sure."
The boy looked at the jet again.
Then at Damian.
Then back at the jet.
And for the first time, an older woman near the crowd suddenly stopped smiling.
Because she recognized that look.
The boy walked forward.
Slowly.
No hesitation.
He stopped beside the jet door.
Raised his hand.
Not touching it yet.
Then whispered:
"My mother said you'd panic if I ever stood here."
Silence.
Damian's smile disappeared.
A tiny green light suddenly appeared beside the jet door.
BEEP.
Everyone froze.
Then a cold robotic voice came from the jet:
"Welcome back... Ethan."
Damian turned white.
Because the boy had never told anyone his nameNobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Even the music felt too loud now.
Ethan stared at the open jet door.
Damian stared at Ethan.
“No…” Damian whispered.
The older woman’s champagne glass slipped from her hand.
CRASH.
People jumped.
Ethan slowly looked back.
“What is it?” he asked innocently.
Damian rushed forward.
“Don’t touch anything!”
Too late.
Ethan stepped inside.
The cabin lights switched on automatically.
Then every screen inside the jet lit up.
Photos appeared.
Hundreds of them.
Ethan as a baby.
Ethan learning to walk.
Ethan sleeping.
Ethan with his mother.
Dates.
Locations.
Years of memories.
The crowd looked at Damian.
Then back at Ethan.
The boy blinked.
Confused.
Slowly, he turned around.
“Mom told me my father disappeared before I was born…”
He looked directly at Damian.
“…so why does your jet know who I am?”
May you like
Damian opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
