Chapter 1

Part 2
The story should have ended at the laundromat.
At least that's what Tyler thought.
For three days, he avoided talking about it.
He ignored texts.
Skipped hanging out after school.
Even stayed off social media.
Unfortunately for him, the internet had other plans.
Someone in the laundromat had recorded part of the incident.
Not the beginning.
Not the clothes being thrown.
Just the moment Tyler ended up on the floor while Ethan stood calmly beside the folding table.
The clip spread through school faster than wildfire.
By Monday morning, everyone had seen it.
Tyler hated every second of it.
But what bothered him most wasn't the video.
It was the comments.
Nobody was calling Ethan a troublemaker.
Nobody was praising violence.
Instead, hundreds of people kept repeating the same thing.
"Maybe don't mess with people."
Tyler couldn't escape it.
For the first time in years, nobody found his behavior funny.
Meanwhile, Ethan went right back to normal life.
School.
Homework.
Helping his mom.
Nothing changed.
At least until Wednesday afternoon.
The final bell rang.
Students poured into the parking lot.
Ethan was walking toward the bus stop when he heard shouting near the athletic field.
A group of freshmen stood gathered around someone.
Phones were already out.
Never a good sign.
Ethan stepped closer.
In the center of the crowd stood a skinny freshman named Noah.
Across from him was Derek.
A senior.
Captain of the wrestling team.
Six-foot-three.
And enjoying every second of the attention.
Noah looked terrified.
Derek smirked.
"Come on," he said loudly. "Say it again."
The freshman stayed silent.
The crowd laughed.
Ethan immediately recognized the scene.
Different faces.
Same story.
Someone using an audience to make another person feel small.
Then Derek grabbed Noah's backpack and tossed it into a muddy patch beside the field.
The crowd exploded with laughter.
Noah's face dropped.
Ethan sighed.
He had seen enough.
Without saying a word, he walked into the circle.
The laughter faded.
Several students recognized him instantly.
"Yo," someone whispered.
"That's the laundromat kid."
Derek looked Ethan up and down.
"So what?"
Nobody answered.
Because something unexpected happened.
Tyler stepped out from the back of the crowd.
Everyone turned.
Including Ethan.
Tyler looked uncomfortable.
Like he hadn't planned on being there.
For a moment nobody spoke.
Then Tyler walked past Derek.
Past the crowd.
And straight toward Noah's backpack.
He picked it up.
Brushed off the mud.
And handed it back.
The entire field went silent.
Derek frowned.
"What are you doing?"
Tyler looked at him.
For the first time in a long time, there was no smirk on his face.
"Noah didn't do anything."
Derek laughed.
"You serious?"
Tyler shrugged.
"Yeah."
The crowd exchanged confused looks.
Because this wasn't the Tyler they knew.
Not even close.
Derek stepped forward.
"You got a problem?"
Tyler glanced toward Ethan.
Then back at Derek.
"Actually," he said, "I think I'm done being one."
The silence that followed felt heavier than any argument.
Derek stared.
Waiting for a joke.
Waiting for someone to laugh.
Nobody did.
One by one, students began leaving.
The audience disappeared.
And without an audience, Derek suddenly looked much smaller.
A teacher arrived moments later.
The crowd scattered.
The situation was over.
Just like that.
As students headed home, Tyler caught up with Ethan near the bus stop.
Neither spoke for several seconds.
Finally, Tyler cleared his throat.
"You know..."
Ethan looked over.
Tyler rubbed the back of his neck.
"I deserved what happened."
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Probably."
Tyler laughed despite himself.
"So we're good?"
Ethan considered it.
Then nodded once.
"We're good."
For the first time since the laundromat, Tyler smiled without trying to impress anyone.
A real smile.
The bus pulled up.
Doors opened.
Students climbed aboard.
As Ethan took a seat by the window, he noticed Noah sitting several rows ahead.
The freshman looked relieved.
Safe.
And maybe a little more confident than before.
Ethan leaned back.
Sometimes the strongest lesson wasn't winning.
Sometimes it was what happened afterward.
Because one bad moment can embarrass someone.
But one good choice can change who they become.
May you like
And Tyler had just made his first one.
Part 3: Months later, a shocking school championship puts Ethan and Tyler on the same team... and only one of them knows the secret that could change everything.
