The private wing of the ABC Medical Center was completely locked down by Salazar security. For three days, I lay in the sterile, quiet room, listening to the steady rhythm of the fetal monitor checking my son’s heartbeat. He was safe. The doctors had stabilized the pregnancy, and the bruises on my arms were beginning to heal, fading from an ugly purple to a dull yellow.
My father sat by my bedside, peeling an apple with a small silver knife. The door opened quietly, and my lead attorney, Sofia Vance, walked in, carrying a thick stack of legal documents.
"Valeria, Mr. Salazar," Sofia nodded, her face professional and sharp. "The grand jury has finished reviewing the livestream footage and the files you recovered from Santiago's office. The indictment is absolute."

"We found the paper trail connecting her to the private psychiatric clinic in Guadalajara. She had already paid a two-million-peso retainer to have you committed under a falsified name the moment you entered the delivery room."
