Moments later, the city bus arrived.
The driver immediately recognized the veteran.
"Morning, Mr. Harris."
The old man smiled politely.

As Daniel helped him onto the bus, something unexpected happened.
The three young men followed.
Without saying a word, they walked to the back of the bus.
Then one of them stood.
"Sir..."
He looked at the veteran with genuine regret.
"Please... take my seat."
The other two stood as well.
"So can you have ours."
The veteran looked surprised.
For a moment, he hesitated.
Then Daniel nodded gently.
"It's okay."
The old man slowly sat down.
The bus remained unusually quiet.
Several passengers had witnessed everything.
An elderly woman quietly wiped away tears.
