Part 2: The Truth the Guests Never Knew

The elegant woman stood speechless.
Every guest stared at her.
No one rushed to defend her anymore.
The wealthy man helped his mother to her feet with both hands, carefully brushing the dust from her worn sweater.
She was trembling.
Not from fear.
From years of believing she had nowhere else to go.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"I should have come home sooner."
His mother forced a weak smile.
"I didn't want to bother you."
Those words shattered him.
She had spent her entire life protecting him.
Even now, she was protecting the people who had humiliated her.
The elegant woman suddenly found her voice.
"Daniel, you're overreacting."
He slowly turned toward her.
"Overreacting?"
She crossed her arms.
"Your mother refuses to follow the house rules."
"I only asked her to eat in the kitchen."
One of the housekeepers quietly lowered her head.
Another servant wiped away tears.
Everyone knew that wasn't true.
Daniel noticed their reactions immediately.
He looked toward the oldest maid.
"Tell me."
The woman hesitated.
The elegant woman shot her a warning look.
But Daniel spoke again.
"Nobody loses their job for telling the truth."
The dining room fell silent.
Finally, the housekeeper took a deep breath.
"Sir..."
"Your mother hasn't been allowed to eat at this table for almost two years."
Gasps echoed through the room.
Daniel's face turned pale.
He slowly looked back at his mother.
May you like
She couldn't meet his eyes.
That silence told him everything.
