CHAPTER 2: THE INTERRUPTION

Before anyone could react further, a voice rang out from behind the counter.

"Wait!"

Store manager David Collins rushed forward.

His face had suddenly gone pale.

The moment he saw Marcus standing beside the display case, his stomach dropped.

No.

This couldn't be happening.

Not today.

Not here.

David quickly stepped between the two men.

Officer Reed frowned.

"What are you doing?"

But David wasn't looking at him.

Instead, he turned toward Marcus.

And bowed his head respectfully.

The gesture stunned everyone.

Customers stared.

Employees froze.

Even Marcus looked mildly surprised.

"Sir," David said nervously.

"Why didn't you tell us you were coming?"

The silence that followed felt endless.

Officer Reed blinked.

His confidence began slipping away.

Something wasn't right.

Nobody treated ordinary customers like that.

Especially not in a luxury jewelry store.

For the first time, uncertainty entered his mind.

Who exactly was this man?
